At SEEDS Palliative Care by Percy Jebamalar Legacy Foundation, we believe that awareness is the first step toward change. On October 12th, we had the unique opportunity to connect with the budding engineers at JP Engineering College, Tenkasi, and shed light on a topic that deeply affects us all, yet remains under-discussed—palliative care.
The event saw robust participation from engineering students hailing from various departments and classes. The eclectic crowd was a testament to the growing interest and necessity for a conversation around this humane medical approach.
Dr. Radha Venkatesan led the session with a compelling talk that defined palliative care and explained its importance in the healthcare ecosystem. She emphasized the value of quality of life for terminally ill patients and their families, providing insights that were eye-opening for many in attendance.
To add an unconventional angle to the session, Mr. Abilash Praveen spoke about the relevance of palliative care from an engineering student’s perspective. He sparked a dialogue around innovative solutions that technology could offer to enhance patient comfort, mobility, and overall well-being.
Our organization orchestrated the session with a mission to plant the seeds of knowledge and compassion among the future problem-solvers of our community. The event was a part of our week-long series of activities aimed at raising awareness about palliative care in Tenkasi and beyond.
It’s not every day that engineering intersects with healthcare in such an inspiring manner. As we move ahead in our journey to make Tenkasi a hub for compassionate, quality palliative care, we are excited about the new perspectives and innovative solutions that our young engineers could potentially bring to the table.
